How Can I Improve My Hearing?

There are five simple steps to better hearing:

1) Reach out to a hearing professional – like us !

–  You have already taken the first step by visiting this site

–  Some people take 7 -10 years to get to this point

2) Complete an initial hearing test

–  We offer an initial hearing test with our in-house audiologists

–  We will help determine and understand the type and degree of your hearing loss

3) If required, schedule a full audiological assessment to determine the type and degree of your hearing loss

–  We will schedule a full audiological assessment in our sound-treated room or booth

–  Different tones will be played, and you will be asked to indicate a response

–  Your clinician will determine where there are deviations from normal hearing to help diagnose the type of hearing loss and identify a suitable hearing aid

4) Attend a hearing aid consultation to discuss options to improve your hearing

–  We will work through your needs assessment process

–  We’ll ask questions about your lifestyle and hearing needs

–  This will allow us to decide on the hearing aid features and level of technology that will suit you best, taking in to account your:

  • Hearing loss and other physical factors
  • Lifestyle and your hearing needs
  • Preferences (what the hearing aid will look like or specific functionality)
  • Funding and budget (you may be eligible for funding from a government agency)

5) Have your hearing aids personally fitted and programmed

–  A properly fitted and programmed hearing aid is essential

–  We will go above and beyond to make sure you get years of the highest quality and most consistent hearing possible from your hearing devices

–  We’ll programme your hearing aids by connecting them to a computer to calculate the amount of amplification you require using your audiogram as a guide

–  We then utilise Real Ear Measurement to check the level of sound being delivered right near your eardrum

–  During your fitting, you’ll also learn how to take care of your hearing aids, including tips for cleaning, insertion, and removal and helpful ways to keep your devices performing at high levels for years to come
